Packing supplies

Wow, 26 days since I’ve written a post here. Sorry about that! Between my day job and helping my parents look for a house, I’ve been busy! I’m the only writer here now (the ‘group of friends’ didn’t really work out–they all had other commitments that took priority), so I didn’t have a backup person to keep the site fresh.

I never knew exactly how much work it took to look for a house. We’re trying to keep our driving around to a minimum, but there’s still so much looking to be done online, phone calls to make, financials to figure out, packing to do, etc. The cleaning and packing–now that takes up the biggest chunk of time. And believe me, packing up almost 40 years worth of a family’s life is not an easy task.

But it’s time for change and we’re moving forward. So, I may have missed the online earth day celebrations, but we were doing our thing at home. Re-using old boxes and newspaper, donating old items, recycling old containers, boxes, and so on. Hey, I’ve always done those things when I move, so I guess I’ve always had a little bit o’ green living in my life, huh? That’s a good feeling.

I know this post was off topic, but 26 days necessitated an explanation. So there you have it. Now, where’s that cool eyeglass chandelier I found?

Quick Finds: Lower Impact Jewelry

McKenna Hallet Jewelry

Recycled art is wonderful to find and share, but I sometimes wonder about the processes to make it. Are they just as eco-friendly as the materials used?

“Wearable art made without burning fossil fuels from stuff I find.”

McKenna Hallet is an inspiring found-object artist who truly practices what she preaches. Besides having an eye for making stunning jewelry pieces out of trash ‘n scraps, she uses her jewelry to introduce her concept to “Stop Recycling”–no, don’t blink, you read that right.
