Easter Crafts

I’ve been busy helping prep for Easter weekend around here (family, food, fun—yippee!) but I thought it’d be relaxing after all the craziness has ended to check out some recycled arts & crafts. Especially those that are made using the aftermath of the holiday (bags, boxes, eggshells, etc). Have a look at what I’ve found while you share Easter goodies with your family…but hands off the Chocolate Bunny. That’s mine. All mine. Grrrrrr…

  1. Recycled Plastic Easter Egg Basket - brought to you by MyRecycledBags.com. Lots of great projects and detailed instructions for crocheting with plastic grocery bags.
  2. Eggshell Candle - Love the way your dyed easter eggs look? Save the shell and turn it into this hot little conversation piece. From FamilyFun.com
  3. Eggshell Mosaics - The higher end of mosaics made from broken up egg shells. Imagine what you could make with a rockin’ purple and orange polka dotted shell? No? Well, the kids would love it.
  4. Good Egg Footstool - Dyed paper egg cartons turned into functional furniture. Aaaaah…a place to rest your achey, shopping-weary feet. At eco-artware.com
  5. Big, Fat, Plastic Fish - Hang out with Tina, the knitted-plastic-bag-fish with a big belly & eco-friendly heart. What critter would you knit with all that plastic Easter grass? Maybe the FakePlasticFish.com could help ya’.

For those who want to reuse their materials in a not-so-crafty way, check out the tips offered by professional organizers at this Statesman.com article.

Lastly, please consider donating any reusable excess materials that you don’t want, such as easter grass or baskets, to an organization like Arts and Scraps (local to me in Michigan, see this video for more info). They can always use these items, and I’m sure (at least, I hope) that there are similar organizations across the country.

Happy Easter everyone! Be seeing you soon!
